For those who don't know, Giant sloths were tanks they fought most of the apex predators of their time and won more often than not. While they mostly ate plants they did not hesitate to enjoy meat.

For those who aren't aware:

Meganeura isn't a Dragonfly.
It's a close relative of today's Dragonflies, but it is easy to get them confused.

Meganeura was a Griffenfly.

Griffenflies were the largest insects to ever crawl, walk, and Take flight on this earth.

They were carnivorous and could eat lizard-like creatures the size of a Chihuahua today.

The giant ground sloth is actually the reason we can enjoy avocados! They used to be very tough, but the giant sloth would eat them, poop out the seeds to fertilize them, and they eventually developed into the softer variety we have today! They were really gentle giants. It would mostly be an agricultural mess, just keeping them away from large farms

The Giant Ground Sloth were mainly vegetarians, but were absolute tanks. They fought many apex predators, and were _much_ faster than the sloths we have today. Their claws would easily disembowel anything.

Now, I did say they were mainly a vegetarian. But more specifically, they are a lazy vegetarian, where they would much rather eat plants, but definitely wouldn’t mind enjoying meat if it was an option. Though, they’re not dangerous unless you attack them first. They don’t just attack unprovoked.

Ground Sloths were important ecosystem engineers for various types of seeded plants, and many of those plants are on the decline without them. Definitely miss them.

Giant ground sloths are actually the reason we still have avocados today. They were large enough to swallow them whole, preserving the pit/seed, and "planting" them when they defecated. They're natural travels took the seeds far from the parent avocado tree.
