A handful of vice presidential candidates have risen to the top of voter preference in the first week of Vice President Kamala Harris’ presidential run, with Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, Arizona Sen. Mark Kelly and Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro taking the top spots. NY Post Politics Reporter Diana Glebova shares this story.

An ABC/Ipsos poll published Sunday showed Buttigieg with the highest approval rating (29%) of any of the potential VP candidates on Harris’ list.

The other candidates fell just behind with the following approval ratings: 22% for Kelly; 21% for California Gov. Gavin Newsom; 20% for Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer; and 17% for Shapiro.

Should be Pete, he is passionate, articulate, importantly not afraid of taking the message to GOP undecided (think Fox News interview where he owned it), people are getting behind him, ex military, family man, experience.... He is the man to get the undecided and begrudging maybe trump votes...

Pete Buttigieg is the closest thing to a superhero the Democratic Party has! Of the remaining candidates, he's definitely Harris' wisest pick for VP. By far the best communicator, he refuses to be bullied by today's ill-willed Republicans -- without ever needing to raise his voice or resort to exaggeration. Buttigieg actually thrives in debates and interviews, and he always comes prepared with verified facts and figures, simple analogies, and quick responses -- even when he's being grilled by Congress or far-right news hosts. His ability to convey a message with fewer words and in less time is extraordinary, and it's pure joy to watch him not only win his opponents over, but put THEM on defense! After a solid education at Harvard (degrees in History and Literature) and as a Rhodes Scholar at Oxford (Politics, Economics, and Philosophy), worked as a highly paid management consultant at McKinsey & Co. and could be earning much more money than he does. But his devotion to our country led him to public service where he knew he could make a greater difference. And what a patriot! He served in our military as a Naval intelligence officer. His military experience and deep understanding of US and world history, economics, and politics uniquely position him to support Harris in international affairs. Buttigieg entered politics as a transformational mayor of South Bend, Indiana, completely changing the trajectory of a crumbling city by investing in poorer neighborhoods and infrastructure, increasing its employment rate, and much more. His educational record and his accomplishments in the corporate world, as an intelligence officer in the Navy, as a transformative mayor, as a father, and within the Biden-Harris administration make him a more qualified VP than a person decades older. He will further fire up the voters and be her best weapon in the campaign. A Harris--Buttigieg ticket will be unbeatable and give Democrats the landslide victory they need to send Trump packing!

Jen Psaki says that at this late date you can not introduce an unknown. He has to have enough charisma to highlight a rally or a fundraiser on his own.
Pete's the guy. He's a son of the Midwest and appeals to our young voters.
He's also the most talented politician of our era.

Tim Walz for VP. He delivered for working people and very much anti war.

If I was picking a VP. I’d see which candidate has the least skeletons in the closet.

Have loved Josh...but recently saw him acting...kind of...hysterical? No, that's not the right word. Just less than serious.

Could be wrong, but have a feeling it'll be Shapiro.

Most likely it will be Beshear or Shapiro. Harris will not pick another woman or another diversity avatar. Kelly or Walz are not suitable candidates because they are too heavy weight for Kamala. Nor will they be obedient enough for the shadow president who is really the decider, as we learned from the recent S.H. investigation.

Josh Shapiro is the best, solid choice for Vice President. Shapiro will be great on the campaign trail, and will help to win the coveted Pennsylvania electoral college votes. Josh Shapiro is also an excellent speaker and would prosecute the lies and hate and misinformation from Trump and his enabling surrogates. Shapiro will show strength and command on the campaign trail and as a loyal V.P. for Kamala Harris in the White House. Vote Blue 💙💙

I’m admittedly out of the political “loop” about who has what strengths when it comes to VP pics, but am I wrong to think that Kelly might be the best choice as far as foreign policy is concerned? I’m hearing people’s reservations about Harris’ perceived lack of “strength” on the world stage. I’m watching each of the potential VP candidates and I get the impression that Kelly, with his history, experience and “toughness” seems like he would command instant respect from world leaders.

I would LOVE to see 2 women as our top leaders but I don't think much of the US is ready for that. One step at a time
