A chocolate croissant—is it correct to call it a pain au chocolat or a chocolatine in France? Depends on who you ask. It’s a subject of great debate that’s been addressed by the French Parliament and President Emmanuel Macron. We went straight to the people who bake these delicious pastries for an answer. But even they can’t agree. Nous ne prenons pas parti!

I call it a pain when the baker doesn't have one.

There should not be a debate there is different way to call it depending of where you are. As I grew up in Paris and now live in South west I am bilingual I use chocolatine where I live and pain au chocolat in Paris.

I just call it Pain, really. It's just so fun knowing it reads as pain in English.

We call it ''petit pain'' it means small bread, or ''pain choco'' which is short for ''pain au chocolat''

Chocolatine is just so nicer word than "bread of chocolate"

The French are busy fighting over a name for a pastry.
Meanwhile in India, several dishes have 50 different names...

Oh most of us know what a chocolatine is, we just refuse to call it by that fake name lol It’s pain au chocolat. Always was, always is, always will be its true name
