This sheds light on the atrocities committed against women in the hands of men who are meant to be their protectors. Often they're trivialized with fathers failing to deal decisively with such indiscipline in their own homes😢😢

Nothing much on why Absalom was angry at his brother Amnon. Tamar's story, even the bible, doesn't seem to pay much attention to it, not even her pain. The community, doesn't show their fury against Amnon for violating his sister, instead, she is judged and condemned for a crime she didn't commit.

I pray for all women in Tamar's position

King David had the responsibility to punish Amon for this violation. The culprit being his son does not exempt him from punishment. This same situation happened to the prophet Eli when he failed to discipline his sons from disrespecting God, all three died. Eli's sons died in battle and he broke his neck, making Samuel his replacement. Had David had shown his daughter respect and justice, a lot of his problems could have been avoided.

Not giving justice to his daugther was worse than murdering that guy to hide his adultery

If David would have taken care of this right from the start like a good father, it would not have gone this far. And if David would have been paying attention, he should have noticed what Amnon was up to. I despise Amnon.

Even though he didn't do it in the right way, I like Absalom because he defended his sister.

Well, King David did have Uriah killed to have his wife, Beersheba. His price was the lost of his son as a baby. Then one of his son does the same thing, taking what was not his and paid with his life. Can't blame Absalom for what he did. David may have favor with God but he is still a sinner. Tamar was the biggest loser out of all of this. Poor girl.

I relate with Tamar in my child sexual abuse in my adopted home where no one did nothing in the case of my abuse. To this day my adopted dad is living free as a guilty person of my Child sexual abuse.

May we learn to control our desires... May justice prevail. May God forgive us for any perpetrated injustice.

Prefect example of when you do wrong and seek God forgiveness. David was warned a knife shall never leave your house. People seek God beg for his forgiveness and welcome his son Jesus Christ into your hearts. For Jesus Christ is the way the truth and the life.

I love Davis story. It tells us more about sin, repentance, and consequence. Sin can be forgiven, but consequence are not necessarily removed. Especially when the sin was too large like Urial, God himself though forgives David but also will not spare him from that consequences. That answers not yet believers misassumption on just ask for forgiveness it is easy.

Amnon and Tamar are half-siblings from different mothers. These tragedies were the consequences prophesied by David's personal priest Nathan after David committed adultery and murder. Although God forgave David, These tragedies were the direct, prophecied consequence of his own sin.

The Bible does not sugar coat anything. It shows humanity in its entire frailty, proneness to all kinds of sin and evil - yet God chose to become human, enter our realm of existence and to deliver us from these chains by which evil and darkness had us bound for millennia. We cannot grasp the lengths Jesus went to break this curse we brought upon ourselves and give us a future and a hope. He is worthy of all praise forever, hallelujah! Every knee shall bow and every tongue confess that He is Lord!👑🙏

Although it is not mentioned in the Bible, I hope that Solomon saw that Tamar was cared for until her death.

Why would people look down on a woman because she was raped? Never understood that…she didn’t volunteer

David's weak point was women, same as his son Solomon. I always wondered why God allowed kings to have many wives and concubines? The many children born from different women did not have any restrain. There must have been a lot of jealousy and envy and competition and in the case of unfortunate Tamar, unhealthy desires. How sad. David's lack of restraint cost him everything he had built for God and with God.

It doesn't say he attempted to violate her, it says he did violate her. Then he couldn't stand the site of her and had her thrown out of his house.
