Finding the Mean (Average), Median, and Mode

Показать описание

In this video we look at two examples of how to find the mean (average), median and mode of a group of numbers. The average is found by adding all of the numbers of the group, and dividing by the total number of numbers. The median is the middle number of a group that is arranged from smallest to largest when there are an odd number of numbers. When there are an even number of numbers, we take the average of the middle two numbers. The mode is the number that occurs most frequently in a group of numbers.

In real life, you just use excel. If you have access to it. I think it's =median, then select the group of numbers.

Do you mean you have an even number of numbers? There is no such thing as two medians. When you have an even number of numbers, you just take the average (mean) of the two numbers in the middle. So for example, if you had 1, 6, 8, 10 for your data set, the median would be the average of 6 and 8, which is 7. Hope this helps :0
