A 1959 commercial for Ballantine Ale. Founded in 1840, Ballantine was one of the oldest beer brands and, for a time, the number three beer in the USA. It lost market share to lighter, less alcoholic ales in the mid-60s before the owners sold the brewery to Falstaff in 1972.

Even though I never watched TV I have a strong tendency to remember TV commercials but for some reason I don't remember this one. I did drink Ballantine on occasion but I prefer lager over ale.

Tuborg was another brand brewed with gold hops. It wasn't popular but I liked it and the price was right for a kid trying to make it pay to pay.
