I am from Glasgow, Scotland. I would like to point out Celtic supporters have always been against the monarchy because they were found by catholic Irishmen and the distaste is historical.

To put this into context, the vast majority of Celtic fans, like myself, are of Irish heritage. Many terrible deeds were done to Ireland and the Irish people in the name of the Crown over the centuries, in fact they petfected in Ireland first before unleashing it on the rest of the world; hardline colonial rule, pillaging of the land and resources, natives ejected off their ancient lands and made to pay rent to landed British gentry, , mass unemployment, starvation, famine, attempted destruction of language and culture, cruelty, torture, slavery, massacres, assisanation of resistance leaders, writers & poets and intellectuals without trial, internment and the poor sent on prison ships to Australia!...(I'm sure you know your own history Australian people)...I could go on and on, ... so yes it is very deep rooted and the Celtic fans have every right to make their feelings known. Our ancestors suffering granted us that right. Celtic Football club was born out of that suffering 🍀☘🍀
