A very honest and humble answer. Each school has its own rules and ranking systems. I will never reach a ranking of that caliber and I do not aspire to it. I usually share my little knowledge with people who ask me and I kindly help them to the extent of what I have learned. In this great community of traditional Archery and Asiatic Archery we can all learn and share without trying to disrespect each other. It's great to make friends and share everything we've learned without ranking ourselves. And of course without forgetting that there are friends who have been doing this for much longer time and they deserve great respect.🙏 Cheers Armin blessings from my house . You Rock. ✨️👊😊

"If one teaches, two learn." That is so true, in any field.
Dear Armin, if by producing these videos, you have learned even a fraction of what I have learned by watching them, that will be a lot.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts, Armin. I know a guided program would help direct my focus as I continue learning and sharing with others. I like the idea very much. Best wishes:) 🙇🏻👍🏹

For me, a master is a person from whom I follow an example or who gave me a tip on how to be a better archer. In Poland, my first Master was Adam Swoboda, from whose book I learned a lot about the basics. And my real Master is Łukasz Nawalny, with whom we shoot together very often and who gave me a lot of valuable advice.

This is a very accurate definition for me too.
I've trained in kung-fu and a few other styles for almost 30 years now. I'm only 2 years in to my archery journey but I have gone down the path of owning about 6 different bows, all in different categories and my goal is to be proficient will all of them. I'd like to be able to pick up any bow someone hands me, with any arrow, understand how I need to adapt to shoot that and within say 6 arrows be able to get a small group at 30m. Then I'll be content that I have a good foundation knowledge of archery.

This struck me as a very wise answer, indeed. Very impressive. Thank you for sharing this with us.

I understand the system of mastership in martial arts (which is a cool thing) - it keeps the level of quality high.
Some are keen on titles, but
for me it’s not that relevant… you are a very good teacher and this is all fine by me 😄

This is great reasoning. I'm on the path bit I expect many, many years before I attain mastery of many styles.

I'm trying though, I teach and am trying to widen my range of knowledge, style and skill.

Armin, you are in good company of modest masters / teachers, I like your style.
Degrees are a way to assess quality, and ascertain safety, but every time such systems took hold in a sport or art, it also produced a system of eager functionaires that perverted it to some degree
as a CMAS M** diving instructor I saw that happen

In Hungarian Archery Association the Master Archer title exists in the Historical Archery category - meaning: shooting with a historically accurate style of bow (mainly 'horsebows', hun, chinese, mongol, türk, korean, etc. built in either purely natural or modern materials), arrow (wood or bamboo shaft only, wooden self nock only, feather fletching only) in a historically correct representation of clothing, outfit. The title can be earned when one wins the national distant shooting, national distant target shooting and the indoors target shooting championships in 2 consequent years.
All those championships can show the archers skills pretty well, then again, this title is a title of an association in the Historical Archery division (and not a world wide acknowledge) - still, which I think its a correct way to show respect to history itself. Imo.

But what we are talking about here is much more deeper I think. Being a master (of anything, really) should involve some sort of spiritual level to it as well. I think the physical aspect/achievement is one thing, a title related to that achievement is basically an acknowledgement only - and that point is the critical one, where you can discover that the title eventually means something (to your ego) or inspires you to look into things a bit deeper (where it won't matter whatsoever). So either you can start drooling over your accomplishments or It can be a door to a whole bigger, wider world. :)

With a life long experience in martial arts, and been taught by numerous true master over many decades, and I agree with you completely Armin.
Every master I ever studied with would also mention that they never strived for the honor of the “passed down” title, but rather always remained focused throughout their lives on their path towards mastery. Mastery in one subject illuminates mastery in others.

I keep failing at this style miserably. Release with the thumb draw is part of it. Tried all kinds of anchor points too. Your anchor baffles me.

Love your videos! Maybe someday I will figure it out. Sticking to Fred Bear style for now.

So well put! A true master is acknowledged by others, peers & students, as being one. Technical definitions via enumerated rules & regulations unfortunately becomes a slippery slope - necessary at times but always in danger of abuse, favoritism, etc. I am glad to hear you emphasize the instructing role - I have met a number of people in Budo who are master technicians, but absolutely cannot communicate what they are doing to others. "Just imitate me" is not useful when a student needs specific issues analyzed and solution(s) clearly articulated!

I am way behind you master. This far I have taught about 11000 students. However I do love my job!

I've been an archer for 57 years and I'm still learning, I don't teach others the use of the bow but only encourage them to find their own way and most of all, enjoy themselves as I have.

Anyone calling themselves a "Master" of anything I would call a fool because there is always more to learn. Especially with something like archery.

I completely agree. However, I consider you the master in Asiatic archery and traditional archery. Also, the most important thing as a master is the humble attitude. Thank you master Armin.
