"A Woman's Place" patch from A Better Way 2A...
^ again, this is not a sponsored link... I just like Jordan and Andrew and they're friends of mine and this specific patch is dope

Do you prefer to not be a walking billboard for other companies when you get free stuff at conferences? If you're like me, you want to cover up those logos of other brands. I used to use black marker, etc, but this is a lot more fun of a solution, I think. Enjoy! 👍😁👍

Ive always said sewing is as an important skill as picking, welding, wood working etc. I’ve also viewed a sewing machine as one of the most important tools as well. It’s basically fabric welding and having customized options for bags, tool rolls etc is well worth learning that skill.

I usually get the iron on velcro and then sew it once its ironed on to reinforce it.

For sticker anxiety we put them on magnets. Fridge is filled of stupid burning man stickers.

Also have a few refillable fire extinguishers covered in stickers.

Was mad jelly of that killdozer patch, glad it's in the giveaway. Already looking up that woman's place patch.

Sad to hear about the building, doubly so after the lab buildout.

I sent a friend the crosswalk video, he had fun with it during the event and apparently talked to you about it at RTA.

for fabric i tend to stay away from adhesive backed velcro just in case i may need to put it in the wash for whatever reason. but for solid materials, like plastic on the interior lid of a pelican case, i would go with that. there are exceptions to adhesive and fabric, like if it is an iron-on type made to stick to fabric.

for fabric, if possible, i try to use a heavy duty sewing machine with some sort of nonlinear double stitch like zigzag or up and over and do the same area at least twice. corners should be secure due to all the pulling and yanking off patches. if it cannot be machine sewn, doing it by hand securely is great as you can still go over the edges twice or more and quadruple knot the ends & other fancy sewing tricks to make sure it does not unravel in the wash. my stuff from mid to late 2000s still holds up well today. if you apply a good technique to the stitch, you may only have to concern yourself about it once.

I so need to do this, because I'm liking the bag a whole lot.

Adhesive velcro is great, I used to buy some and cut it down just to hang remotes on my wall so they don't take up space on my desk

I prefer the iron on as well, but the adhesive certainly works while at the con, or until you get to an iron.

Been doing this for years, the hack you are missing is taking stickers and putting self adhesive magnetic sheet on the back to make toolbox/refrigerator magnets.

I don't have any convention bags, but I have a few bags provided to me by former employers that I like to use. It just feels weird to carry a bag with the branding of a company that maybe I left on...less than favorable terms or are just now a competitor of my current company. I don't know why I didn't think of this. It's so simple and obvious.

Most big box hardware stoes sell "Industrial Stength" hook & loop. The same stuff that holds a fire 10lb extinguisher to my wall is the go-to for adding patch squares to my bags & gear.

Blizzcon had a velcro bad several years ago. Still use it, despite it not being very high quality.

I do wonder if iron on would work. Most hotel rooms have an iron after all.

I got a big piece of iron-on velcro that I ironed on then reinforced with stitches. And I mostly have my old military patches on that.

Good idea, I like it.
I'm a fan of both the band and the guy who made the Killdozer, may he r.i.p.

Funny thing about the political side... I probably wouldn't agree with you on a lot of things, but there is definitely overlap. I prefer to seek the things I have in common with people rather than what makes us different (at least given the chance).
