Make a Coleman Lamp Box from wood

Here is my process for making a wooden box for a coleman lamp.
I used waste pieces from my workshop and salvaged hardware, except the panel pins and glue! It is light enough to carry and robust enough to protect the lamp and mantles inside.

When I lived in an apartment I made a box to hold two lanterns, all I had to work with was a circular saw and the tailgate of my truck. That was in 1980, I still have the box and lanterns. I lined it with carpet and put foam rubber on the bottom. The mantles survived a trip thru Big Bend without breaking.

Nice box. You may consider throwing some paracord or clothes line in the drawer along with some matches (or a lighter), so you have a complete kit. The cord is to hang the lantern from a tree branch and the matches are for your convenience if the power goes out.

Great job, , another tip here, find a spare nut that goes on the thread of the bolt that holds the top on, if you loose or drop that nut you are fooked . get a few spare nuts to fit and of course a spanner or pliers to fit now .. tidy em away in the little draw . the top and bale handle will be sound then. good luck mate ..
