Clueless White Guy Orders in Perfect Chinese, Shocks Patrons and Staff

The other day I went into a bunch of Chinese restaurants as an ordinary but kinda clueless white guy and ordered food in fluent Chinese (Mandarin and Cantonese). It was a really fun prank and social experiment to see Chinese people’s reactions — both the waiters and the other patrons in these NYC Chinatown restaurants were totally shocked! People just appreciate someone who isn't from where they're from speaking their language and respecting their culture. This is natural.

The coolest part about these videos is how barriers instantly go down when you can speak to someone in their native language.

Me, as an introvert, is allready impressed with him just being able to talk so commonly to total strangers.

I was stationed in Germany in the Army but had taken a couple years of German in HS, then made an effort to learn more there. I still remember walking into a bookstore and asking about a specific cookbook all in German and the shop girl was so impressed, she started flirting with me and all. It really is amazing when you make an effort to speak in the native tongue of the country you are in.
