Great tests! The OWL is my favorite of their batteries. That black box thing you weren't sure of is the fire suppression device that will go off if something catches fire. Also very cool to see it's still >170Ah even after sitting for so long.

That device you questioned at 7:45 is a passive, thermally triggered non-toxic fire extinguisher. Even thought this is the safe LiFePO4 (LFP) chemistry, this is an added safety measure in all of our batteries. Would you like me to send you one? I wish they would of used heavier traces on the PCB. Instead of having a really wide trace, have a raised trace with extra solder along the path. That would allow for better current flow w/o overheating. It would be interesting to see how hot that PCB does get during heavy load discharge, though.

This term is one of my pete peeves, errr, pet peeve 😜 I do wish the "electric" portion wasn't dropped from generator terms, but it's like that across the internet unfortunately
(solar electric generator, wind electric generator, hydro-electric generator [this one actually is quite common, oddly enough])
