Two men have been rescued from crocodile-infested waters after attempting to cross a notorious river in the Northern Territory.

Witnesses captured the moment a ute was being towed across the Cahills Crossing in Kakadu National Park, infamous for its large population of crocodiles, before it was swept away and became lodged in the river with the two men inside.

The pair climbed out of the ute and onto the roof before the truck reversed back to rescue them.

A Parks Australia spokesperson said, “Traditional owners at Kakadu National Park have expressed disappointment at this visitor behaviour, which puts everyone involved at risk of injury or even death”.
