Switching To ZSH

In this video, I go through the process of installing and customizing ZSH from scratch using the Oh My Zsh framework. The Z shell is a Unix shell that can be used as an interactive login shell and as a command interpreter for shell scripting. Oh My Zsh is a delightful, open-source, community-driven framework for managing your Zsh configuration. It comes bundled with thousands of helpful functions, helpers, plugins, and themes.

For people who encounter the 443 connection error, try to download the file directly and sh it locally. it works for me.

if you type source ~/.zshrc it updates the current shell and you dont need to open a new terminal everytime you update the config file

This video was extremely helpful. I've just used it to walk me installing and configuring my own zsh and I'm already loving it. I imagine I'll give fish a try as well, but I don't think I'll be going back to bash if I don't have to. Thank you very much for making this. Only one thing. you dont have to close the terminal to restart it I just found out you can just type bash to restart it for the bash users and all the changes you have made to your .bashrc file will just apply and it also applies to the zsh too give it a try

Thanks for the video, but fish has some bash incompatibilities wich may make it not run some bash script, like the command "fi", with fish it must be "end", wich is better fish or zsh after as user experience?

I have been using zsh for years and a friend recommended fish, works great out of the box. I think I'm gonna stick to it

I'm new to ZSH. Manjaro Gnome now comes with it installed. First question? Where is source of the path? Ubuntu for example using bash has a text file in etc/environment. I've searched all over and can't find it. Second, the first entry is /home/user/.local/bin. I was experimenting with a script. Since bin was already in the path but the directory was not. I created a bin directory in home. However my script was not executed for whatever reason. Then a duplicate entry was added to the path. A little research revealed typeset -a U path to remove the duplicate. But this only lasts for the current session. I removed the bin directory. But the duplicate remains upon logging out and back in. I then created the correct path in .zshrc to write over whatever keeps creating the duplicate. Do you know where this is being sourced?
