EXPOSED: The BIG LIE of Natural Gas

preview_player

Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI) blows the whistle on natural gas -- which likes to promote itself as cleaner than coal, but does everything it can to conceal just how much methane the industry leaks into the atmosphere -- and calls out the Republican hypocrisy in helping fossil fuel.

As a retired accountant, I can vouch for two of the concepts expressed in the video: 1) corporate governance is all about maximizing shareholder value, and 2) the only costs recognized by management are those that are required to be disclosed on financial statements. Negative externalities fall outside of management's core responsibility unless: 1) they are written into the company's mission statement and shareholders hold management accountable, and/or 2) government oversight enforces compliance.

So no: a deregulated business environment is not good for society, and no, small government is not necessarily good government.

Bravo, senator!👏

Senator Whitehouse is on watch for all of us. We need to listen to the information he makes public and support him. He is a true patriot and I commend his bravery

My friend used to fly airplanes over the oil fields to detect leaks, when he came back with too many positives, they told him to shut up and then fired him 🙄 he did get a settlement though and now flies Bush planes somewhere up north.

This guy is so on point. Corporations must be regulated and held accountable. Otherwise, they will not do anything other than focus on profit, if that means pollute, that is what they will do. If you doubt that, you're living in a fantasy world.

This is in every industry. This is what American government has become. Simply change out the industry name, it's own egregious behaviors, and the results of those egregious behaviors.

Fossil fuel industries must be heavily, heavily regulated

That would be OK if The polluters are the only one who pay the price in the end, but since we all going to have to pay we have to fight them and we have to WIN, future for our children and grandchildren.

We want and need renewable energy as soon as possible. No more fossil fuels. Solar, wind and water turbines provide clean sources of energy. It’s stupid to keep subsidizing the coal, oil and natural gas companies.

No accountability for breaking the law. Put them in jail and fine them. White collar criminals never get jail time.

This man has always been on the right side of history. I believe he would be a wonderful president one day. He has a lot of knowledge in every area that effects the average persons daily life and is very detailed also about how corporate dark $$ buy judges to politicians. A wonderful human being.
