I think the issue here is that people didn’t know Rachel was exchanging everything so they actually put time and effort into picking her something she’d basically just chuck. If she’d made it known no one would be mad about just giving her a gift card, albeit she’d be the least fun at Christmas.

All of the characters in the show had a lot of unlikeable qualities in them which made it more humane to watch.I like the fact that all of them were there for each other no matter what for the sake of friendship even if they didn't want to on individual levels.
