When you think of Haiti now, you might think of humanitarian crises, gang violence, and political turbulence, but that’s not the full story. Home of the first Black republic, new leaders are being cultivated to disrupt and rebuild the education system and transform Haiti.

Haiti is more than its current headlines, and these Haitian changemakers are working to make sure the world knows it.

As the birthplace of the first Black republic, Haiti is seeing new leaders emerge, challenging an education system that erases their identity. Anseye Pou Ayiti is a movement with a mission to transform Haitian schools and communities, connecting students to their culture in their native Kreyol language.

In Haiti, only 1% of students will reach university, and just 20% of teachers are formally trained. Yet, change is happening. In just ten years, Anseye Pou Ayiti has reached 116 primary partner schools, with nearly 90% of their students passing (compared to a 41% national average). This program ensures that teachers, parents and school leaders are change-agents in their communities, creating a growing wave of change across the country.

This is the new Haiti—a country where unity makes strength and education is a human right.

Changing the narrative of how people see themselves is a great start. In doing so, by making them knowledgeable and educated is powerful because once you have it. No one can take it away.

You have to start by taking Haiti educational system away from France and completely redesign, revamp it. You have to make Creole the primary language for education not French, instead french should be a secondary language. You have to redesign all curriculums, courses and everything else. you have to write and print Haiti's own educational books in Creole and not let France do that anymore as they have their own agenda and they have already succeeded. If you want real change and progress start there.

As long as Haiti has mineral resources that the US is interested in, these kind of optimistic projects will always be sabotaged.

You're a leader, I'm a leader, everybody gets to be a leader. Muwahahaha.
All jokes aside, my best wished to all the community builders out there.
