When I was 21 and a broke student and went to Amsterdam I lived on fries with satay sauce and mayo for a whole four days! Can’t wait to try all these things now that I’m going as a non-broke-employed-adult this year.

Another tip could be to buy a "day-pass" for 7-8 Euros enabling you to use public transport system in the city for 24 hours (unlimited rides)

If you want to know whath Amsterdam is like, visit Amsterdam.
If you want to know what the Netherlands is like, vist anything but Amsterdam.
It is not typical for the Netherlands, much more crowded, rude, crude, extremely touristy.
Similar but different, go vist Utrecht, which is liek 30 min by train.
That said, you can be just about anywhere in the Netherlands in 2, 5 hours by train if Utrecht is your start off point, which i would suggest above Amsterdam.
Also, visit the south as well, Breda, Eindhoven, Maastricht, maybe add Groningen up in the north, Enschede in the east, check Haarlem.
Just take a few weeks.

When in Breda, visit 'De Beyerd', chsoing best bar with a GREAT selection of bears in bottle and on tap many times over. It's only a few hundred yards outside of the (for international scale very small, you can walk across in minutes, but quality over quantity, trust me) city centre.

I'm a local and I loved how well you've portrayed this city <3 Also, laughing out loud to what happened to your poor umbrellas... That's why nobody uses them here!

DON'T TAKE THE BIKE! Tourists don't know the traffic rules which makes it very dangerous.

I'm visiting this country in July. I've been watching many videos about what to do while there and let me just say, you have had the best tip video. Your personality is amazing, the tips are informative and it's just all around fun. Thank you, please keep up the great work. 👏

I live in Germany for more than 5 years now. Just went back for a short trip in Amsterdam and I got to wonder untl now, why the German can't be so open and friendly like the Dutch

I’ve been thinking of a trip to Amsterdam and because I love getting myself worked up only to see my plans fall apart, I decided to watch some YouTube videos. This was the first video I watched on the city and the first video of yours I’ve ever watched. I clicked Subscribe before the video was over. Love how you talk tips and then show footage of you actually there. I’m about to go check out your other videos to see where else in the world I want to go.

These tips are excellent. Matt can be my guide anytime! I just returned from Amsterdam and was able to get to a few of the things Matt recommended including The Pantry, The Pancake Bakery, the Indonesian restaurant -- Sampurna (great), The Anne Frank House, the Rijksmuseum, the Van Gogh Museum. Ok, more than a few.

This is the best city tour I've ever seen. I am currently living here in The Netherlands for an exchange program and YES your umbrella is so hilarious 😂 We don't usually use it here otherwise it will be broken 🤭 I love how you portrayed the Dutch people. I agree with you that they are the coolest people. As I always say to the internationals, "I don't like Amsterdam, I LOVE AMSTERDAM" 😍

Bro this is the best video on Amsterdam I've ever seen. It's not just a shakey camera filming somebody eating food. You just gained a subscriber.

Glad to see things haven't changed all that much. I haven't been there in 15 years but before that went 3-4 times a year. I also love the pancakes, love those little Italian restaurants where there's huge portions for 5 Euros. I don't see people mention the Argentine beef places but I loved Gaucho's restaurants. I would partake of the weed, mainly Sativa and that energized me to do the last thing you mentioned, get lost. I'd get energized and just walk. Nice video for sure!
