Whenever I hear "First things first" my mind autocompletes it with either "I'm the realest" or "Rest in peace to Uncle Phil" so it tripped me out to hear Ryan say it.

Mount the phone to a better camera. When you bring the tracking data into say Blender, use it to make a virual camera but offset the position based on the difference between the phone's lens and the main camera's, and just use the main camera footage.

Ran a few tests with it already - For gimbal and more stable shots it works amazing! For shakier footage you can definitely see the slipping and more powerful trackers are still much more beneficial, but this is amazing!

we need to see a lidar standalone unit that we can attach to any rig to accomplish this. would be great. also, planar tracking is a fantastic method as well

Personally, I feel that tracking in post is a better option, seeing as the footage quality is so low with the app. Hopefully this technology can continue to be improved, and we can start using it more practically.

Huh....I think essentially, you could create a "dual camera rig" with your main camera and your phone side by side, then theoretically export that tracking data and use it with your camera's footage? Would have to try to match camera focal lengths, etc. but it's really cool to think about the possibilities that this has to offer!
