Here is how the Veto works: President signs bill it becomes law, President vetoes bill it gets sent back and is redone it still becomes law, president vetoes bill congress has adjourned and the bill dies, president refuses to sign the bill congress is in recess the bill dies, and finally president vetoes the bill but congress is divided the bill dies. All of these are scenarios which can either pass or kill a bill.

The British monarch has veto power too, and the power is absolute; the parliament cannot override the mornarch's veto. All bills passed by the parliament will not become laws unless they are signed by the monarch. However the last time a British monarch veto a bill was 1708. After then all the monarchs always sign all bills passed by the parliament whatever they are.

Hello, thank you for the rich content, but I'm confused about the president Ford's override incident, based on the video it had 65 Senate votes. That is not 2/3. And at the time the US was 50 states meaning 100 senators meaning 2/3 is 67. I don't understand. I'm an Irani student, please be kind and explain. Thank you for your informative and entertaining videos.❤
