What about UNO, Scrabble, Noughts & Crosses and Monopoly? Are they forbidden? Why hasn't God spoken to an SDA in these last days to confirm that these other games have been put in the same forbiddon catergory as chess, checkers and cards?

There is a certain element of Truth in these councils. Dancing has much more of a sexual meaning in the modern context. Games such as chess teach The art of war. The question is: as Christians, is that what we're supposed to be learning? Is that the type of Battle that we're supposed to be skilled at? We could apply this to many competitive activities or sports.

For example, this debate right here. It is not good to argue for the sake of arguing, or to try to win an argument for the sake of winning. Perhaps I shouldn't even be trying to answer every objection, as Ellen White says. But we need to have a proper understanding of what she's saying.
