For anybody the first lick JUST before the last note (G) it sounds cool if you throw in an open D D > G.

Thanks for the nice and slow explanations. Most posters just go too fast and expect you to watch their video over and over again, but you can't beat just slowing down and taking your time explaining the riff!

Extraordinary lesson! I taught myself guitar about 20 years ago and I havne't really played in the past 7 years -- I found this very helpful to get back into the hang of playing. That's how you do it. Show it first, then break it down. I've played rock guitar for years but I want to learn some country/bluegrass moves. I like it when the tutor shows the lick first and explains later. I don't really need the lesson, just to see and hear it done. Thankee kindly!

On the first lick, it's more efficient to just slide your first finger on the A string from 1 to 2 instead of hammering on, because then your ring finger is set right up to hit the 3 on the E string and makes the G chord a whole lot easier. So when you're trying to learn this see which one you like better. Slide 1-2 on A instead of hammering on.
