In 2020, Professor Gabriel Martinez set up his classes so that students could not move on to the next assignment or topic without submitting the previous assignment and achieving a high enough score on it; however, he has since seen evidence suggesting that the students who benefitted the most from this approach are the weakest students. In this session, Professor Martinez will outline the flaws in his original approach and how to better gear assignments towards active learning and higher scores come exam time.
