Socialism always fails, apparently. That's why the US spent billions year after year trying to destabilize it. That's honestly the only argument you need.
Note: The wage-labour definition is so-so, my editor picked it and there wasn't enough time to change it. Regardless it works for now.

Well hakim have you considered that I don't have any other arguments.

For some reason, my entire school decided to teach us that communism is when everyone is paid the same. This backfired completely as you would imagine.

“But that isn’t REAL socialism” is the equal and opposite and much more stupid argument.

I grew up in Yugoslavia under Tito. We weren’t necessarily communist but we still shared characteristics and overall it was far better than the modern system we have in Serbia now. However the Udpa were ruthless and our culture and religion was suppressed. It wasn’t all perfect as much as we idolise tito

Whenever I hear this argument I imagine a bunch of French dudes standing around a table after sanctioning the crap out of Haiti going "Look at how much poorer they are now. This just proves that an abolitionist state can't work."

I always like to ask people this question, “Do you really think those in power would ever allow the masses to fully know and understand an alternative system that fundamentally strips the rulers of their power?”

Why don’t you compare the three countries that have in history been divided up between communist, and capitalist? Germany, Korea, and China? There would be a clear starting point and a clear end point. You could define some metrics and compare them 1945 to 1990, 1953 to now, 1949 to 2024.

As someone who's not a leftist and certainly not a socialist, this channel is opening my mind big time.
I admit I've used this argument before out of ignorance. Not anymore though. I see I have a lot to learn about socialism.
Thanks for creating this content.

EDIT 6 months later: I'm a leftist now and this video will always be remembered as my gateway drug lmao

Hakim, I would be more careful when talking about the Cuban healthcare system. As a Cuban living abroad I can tell you that when you say that Cuba has a "thriving and efficient healthcare system..." most Cubans would stop taking you seriously. Currently, the situation in Cuba es deplorable and it, of course, affects the healthcare infrastructure and availability of drugs and other resources needed in hospitals and clinics. Most people would blame that on "socialism" (without even knowing what it is (yes, even people from Cuba)) and wouldn't give any second thought to how that situation is brought upon Cuba because of all the sanctions you mention just a few seconds before.

I get what you're trying to say, the Cuban healthcare system is far better than those from other capitalist countries with similar economic levels. But just for the sake of not coming out as misinformed to people from Cuba, I would recommend a more nuanced approach when talking about it.

Other than that, thanks for this video, I'm right now sharing it with some friends.

I searched about socialism after watching this video. As a result, I figured out socialists love capitalism 😂

The links you put to other videos doesn't work.

Apart from that, really solid content. You're making me rethink a lot of things I never really questioned before.

France would love to get back their colonies in West and Central Africa. A lot of people forget the French had a Empire to, that was every bit as brutal as the British.

hi Hakim, I recently discovered your channel and was very fascinated by it. I thank you for the effort you put into your videos.
I noticed that there are no channels in the Italian YouTube community that talk about socialism in depth, or at least I haven't found any. So I was considering the idea of trying to make videos using your content as a starting point, to try to spread the concept of socialism to as many people as possible. I think that basically this is the basic idea of your channel. However, I would like to have your consent first. I hope you don't have anything against it.

Attributing China's success to Mao's policy is quiteca weird argument, considering millions of death due to the Great Leap Forward and the blame-shifing Cultural Revolution

Thank you for the shoutout to Peru as an example of a failure of capitalism. As a Peruvian, it made me really proud to have rhat whole segment accompanied with a picture of my country: a beacon of inequality that managed to sell itself as "The Pearl of The Paciic" 15ish years ago while never solving our internal and structural mess. Just "stable growth" and democracy... lmao.
