South African Election: Early Counting shows ANC Losing Majority | Vantage with Palki Sharma

South Africa went to polls on Wednesday, and the results have started coming in. After about three quarters of the votes being counted, it looks like South Africa's ruling party, the African National Congress, or ANC, is on course to lose its majority in parliament. The ANC has ruled South Africa since 1994, after Nelson Mandela and the party ended Apartheid. But unemployment, high crime and corruption have led to anger against the ANC, and it seems that the party is paying for this at the ballot. The ANC will still be the largest party in South Africa, but it will have to form a coalition. Who will the ANC choose; the DA, the EFF or Zuma's MK Party?

Unqualified people were placed into senior jobs, not because they knew how to do the job, but because of their loyalty to the party.

Fortunately, wena Palki, the ANC is not the party of Nelson Mandela, it is the party of the people of South Africa. Even Mandela found it exiting and alive and every generation has had to add elevated levels of activism into the ANC to make it a formidable weapon of liberation for the people of South Africa. Then politics took over, money oiled some processes, corruption seeped in and it lost it connection to the grassroots, became elitist without strong ideological posture, thus the problems we have now.
