I own one. The front, I think, is one of the most beautiful fronts of a car ever built. It combines sharpness, elegance and aggression in a superbly exquisite manner. The daytime running lights are splendid. The rear... I am still not sure if I love it. At some angles it looks great but sometimes feel a bit awkwardly oversized.
Practicality - outstanding !!! AMAZING !!! Plenty of room in front, back and boot! BMW have thought about everything!
The Comfort is faaantastic, marvelous...!!! (I have sport leather seats).
I could not believe that a car can give you a such nice sporty feel, be super comfortable and practical at the same time...
Just buy it! It grows on me more with every single day. BRAVO BMW! (I was not a bmw fan before having this car)

PS. I have a Mineralgrau color. Definitely go for metallic colour. The car has nice curves and combined with a metallic colour it looks different depending on the light. It's amazing because every now and then I see it in a different light and feels like discovering a new side of it.

I think this going to be an addition to the 3 Series line, not a change in the over all chassis. You will still be able to find what you want in other variations.

Say what you want...BMW cares more about making cool cars than anyone...more practical than Merc and less stuffy than Porsche and marketed better than both.

It's just another 3 series version!
If you want a sportier car, you can still buy the sedan version or wait for the M3, they're still there, as is the 3 series essence; other people will choose this GT version over the other versions. More versions of model is never bad because it always means pleasing a wider range of customers.
I mean no offense, but I think the one who's stretching it too far is you.

I can see how this makes more sense than the 5 series GT and I like the design...that said, why not just make a better looking touring? you get more cargo space because you also have the volume from the cover top area instead of just a trunk, making it even more versatile...
Don't get me wrong BMW, I really like this design, but I like your touring F31 more, just would like a nicer and LOWER rear end. More practical and stable for those of us that want a nicely balanced family friendly car.

That upper line running from the headlight, above the front wheel, to the side window is similar to what Mercedes and infinity have been doing. However, instead of running that line to the side window like bmw, Mercedes usually has it run down the side body giving the car side surface treatment. Infinity usually likes to use that line and run it all the way to the tail lights like in the LE concept. not sure where i was going with this...

For me, the new BMW's look better and better every day when I look at them. At first I didn't like the new 5-series, nor the 3. But now they look great. Just look at BMW's and Mercedes' cars, they look personal when compared f.e to Audi. I don't think they've gone too far, the change is for good, not that the older models were ugly!

Agreed, I even feel like the hatchback design with the lay-flat seats are trying to turn it into a sports car/SUV hybrid for soccer moms.

Was thinking about getting the 328i luxury line next month.... I've just changed my mind 2 minutes.... what a beautiful car!!

Because the 5 series GT was such a resounding success right? If/ when this model flops, how soon can we anticipate a 1 series GT? Continue diluting the brand and trying to be all things to all people, and see how well that works out.

In my opinion, i think this is ruddy lovely, only one thing missing to make it perfect, All Wheel Drive.
