So for anyone wondering how this works and why the bugs don't just go "dear God that's horrifying" is that bugs mostly identify each other through smells and pheromones, which both cling rather nicely to the hallowed out corpses of their friends as what's left is basically just the whole body equivalent of that one sweater you keep because it smells like your significant other, and let's be honest if you saw a stranger wearing a sweater that smelled nice it would be far less terrifying and more likely for you to be unalived.

I could see an SCP version of this where it’s a group of people huddled together like in an alley or something acting like there’s something crazy they found and you, feel a false sense of safety at the amount of people go over to see what’s going on. Not noticing their blank faces in the dark contradicting their animated movements and their voices actually being incoherent, you go and stand by a couple and look into the center of a giant hole filled with razor fangs. Hands push you in and your body and scream are blocked by the empty husks of the others who fell prey to the creature. Your lifeless eyes join the rest as they make room for their newest member.

I was one of those kids that was always trying to befriend animals and bugs. I remember playing with an assasin bug. befriending it, trusting it. Some time when by and i lost my new friend. Looking for them, suddenly feel a pain equivalent to hot needle in my foot. Looking down, I see my attacker. It was my new friend. I received my first taste of betrayal that day; and I never was the same.
