Roland S-1 Having Problems w/ External MIDI Tracks In Logic [workaround/solution]

Idk about you, but I have had a ROUGH time getting the S-1 to work with external midi tracks in my DAW. Luckily, I have a workaround! I'm using the S-1 as my audio interface and sending the mix out to speakers.

The issue here seems to sort of MIDI feedback loop within the device itself. If you're having this problem in Reaper, FLS, Ableton, or any other DAW, let us know in the comments if this worked for you! 🙏

@rolandglobal if this could be fixed with a software update that would be awesome 😁

Man I worked so hard to make sequences with the S1 itself as I couldn't get the midi to work. But after watching this video, I can confirm that this hack works with Ableton as well and it's hella weird but it works! Cheers mate

Dude. This video literally pulled me from the brink of insanity. I have the EXACT same problem with the P-6 and NOWHERE on the internet have I been able to find a solution or anyone with the same problem until finding this vid. I'm going to try your workaround right now!

It's a Roland S1 bug. The solution/workaround is to use a different device for recording/sending MIDI to the S1 (another synth, or a MIDI controller keyboard) In that case, make sure that S1 "Track: MIDI Input: <Is set to your MIDI Controller>". If the S1 is the only MIDI device you have, and you're using it as a keyboard, record to a virtual synth track first, then drag recorded MIDI to the S1 track.
