What is Universal Design?

This is not my typical video, but this an area of Interior Design that I practice in as a commercial designer. I am very passionate about this topic and spent a lot of time creating this video for a live class that I taught. I polled on my community tab and a lot of you expressed interest in learning about this topic. So although, I would say this is more academic in the way it is presented, I truly hope you enjoy the presentation :).

Watch how they build cars. Nobody designs unpractical, uncomfortable autos. They avoid now touch and touch sliders, because it is unpractical and dangerous. There is a reason, why you can adjust everything in your car. Why would we do non ergonomic design in our home? Who likes stairs if there is an alternative?
Universal design is a benefit for young healthy people too.

If you like backpain, ladders and accidents in your home, go for trendy designs. At a workplace nobody would create an unpractical design, that makes people sick.

This is the first video of yours I cannot watch. The many buzzwords used make me cringe. I suppose this "design" is suitable for government "projects, " but in the marketing world, we design for niche audiences, NOT ALL. To design for everyone is to design for no one. There is a reason for the saying, "You can't please everyone." These kind of standards stifle creativity and engagement, and will be disregarded in time. This is dumbing down design, IMO.
