We had an old man at the beginning of the street when I was growing up that, bless his heart, gave us baggies of homemade plain popcorn. 😂 I always said thank you and even ate a little every time because I know he meant well.

My grandma gave out candy, apples, bags of chips, toothbrushes, toothpaste, fruit snacks and random stuff in her house. My grandma was awesome

Actually that's not a myth. A person was arrested in NY for doing this back in the 90's. It was on the news. And a few years later, some parents found drugs in their kids soft candies. That was also in the news.

When children come to the door at Halloween I have a box full of treats with paper confetti on top so the treat is a surprise. I put in some apples to mess with them, but the kids of course get to choose something else. One little boy gave me side eye when he took out an apple and I burst out laughing. He took out a full size chocolate next so I think we're okay. 😅

When I was a child, they gave us lots of apples, because they were considered a treat! My mom took them from us and made apple pie. No crunching razor blades for us.

New zealands had a rough time with this stuff lately! Was only a couple years back strawberries were being apparently found with needles in sold at supermarkets! Was really scary my toddler loved them and i was so anxious cutting them up so small to check.
