The Mysterious Origin of Halloween - Randall Carlson

Halloween is seen in our modern age as a day lacking in any historical meaning. It has become known for scary movies, candy, costumes and mischief. But there is a deep, universal tradition behind Halloween, also known as the Festival of the Dead, All Souls Day or Feast of the Ancestors. This festival is observed around the world, in the northern and southern hemispheres at the SAME time of year. In this video, we take a dive down the rabbit hole with Randall Carlson to uncover the mysterious origin of Halloween.

Randall Carlson is a master builder and designer, a geologist, anthropologist and historian. He specializes in sacred geometry, ancient civilizations, climate and environmental change, myths, legends, cosmic cycles and catastrophes. He is a proponent of the Younger Dryas impact hypothesis, and has theorized about the extinction of historical advanced human civilizations.

Special thanks to the Lowell Observatory for providing some of the astronomy footage.

Thank you for watching. Please share this video.

Randall Carlson is an amazing teacher. He has a way of making even the most complex topics seem like a campfire tale. I've had the great privilege of going on some geology trips with Randall and I learned more in those few weeks than in all my years of school. Anyone and everyone is welcome to join Randall on these trips and in his classes. Check out his site for dates.
The vast majority of the human story is a complete mystery. As Graham Hancock would say, "We are a species with Amnesia." We have forgotten where we came from, & therefore we have lost sight of why we're here and where we are going.
"The ancient knowledge will again abound & overflow, as water upon the earth. The remains of this knowledge are everywhere about us, in everyday use & perfect." - J. Ralston Skinner

Thanks for featuring Randall. He's in the top 10 of most important humans alive for me. I hope people get to know his astonishing work.

Who else is just discovering this gem of a YT channel? I've been trying to think of ways to introduce topics like this into normal conversation, but I always get crazy looks. This is a good way to get people to pay attention to subjects they would otherwise normally think are too far out or are full of too much 'woo-woo'

I was born Nov. 2 of 1987. Was conceived around the time supernovae 1987a was detected. I am also a practicing pagan of more than 2 decades, and a big believer in the mythos of my birthing day.

This is my favorite of all your works in this vein, by far.
I will be passing this along to everyone I know, starting with my kids and parents. They will love it, I am sure.

Certainly will never look at Halloween the same way after watching this; the implications being far reaching. Absolutely fascinating astronomical history and delineation. The combination of Afterskool art and Randall Carlson commentary was a treat for the eyes and ears.

When you’re doing The Great Work and having Kabbalism/High Magick/AstroTheurgy change your life… and you hear something like this on the forefront of YouTube Algorithm… all you can do is smile. Thank you Randy. May your journey (as I know you’ve taken it) inspire others to take the same.

Wow! So, a couple things pop out at me. 1) The “broom-star” as an ill omen must be where the tradition of witches riding brooms came from, and 2) the quintessential ghost costume of a white sheet over the head with eyeholes cut out looks exactly like what Randall showed of a comet shooting through the sky. Fascinating stuff!! I love Randall’s lectures!

Has anyone else noticed you never see Santa Clause and Randall Carlson in the same place at the same time? 🤶 🎄

This is so awesome! Thanks to you guys and Randall for making this. Mr. Carlson is basically the wise uncle we all need, and when he speaks I listen.

Update: The Sacred Geometry video he did with After Skool changed my life in a significant way, I highly recommend it.

This is just absolutely phenomenal. So much knowledge and information about the human story in what most people just see as odd and unusual ancient artwork. Imagine, with all the info we know now, how much we've lost.

As he points out, it really takes only a cursory search to learn there's religious and cultural significance to Halloween. It's sad that people will only ever learn anything if it's featured on social media, they just sit and wait for things to be delivered to be consumed without the curiosity to seek it out. I hope that changes. That being said I'm grateful this was produced and posted.

Randall speaks to ancient and beautiful maths and magic and mystery. Thanks to him, and After Skool, for this! Warm winds and following seas. 🧡

Thank you for hosting RCarlson. I've thought about Celtic year & realize it makes more sense then current understanding of when seasons begin. The Midway points between solstices and equinoxes mark beginnings of seasons with the solstices and equinoxes marking MIDseason. Samhain marks the midway between Autumn equinox and Winter Solstice, which marks the Beginning of Winter, the darkest QUARTER of the year. Imbolc is midway between Winter Sol & Spring equinox marking the beginning of Spring; Beltane, the beginning of Summer & Lughnasadh, the beginning of Autumn. Each season has 13 weeks, with midseason being solstices & equinoxes. Currently, we are told the seasons BEGIN with the midpoints... we've lost so much understanding of marking the seasons.

I love how computer animation can make it seem so real and simple. Its one thing to hear what went on, but to virtually see it brings it alive. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.

Does anyone else wonder if Spanish bullfighting stems from depictions of stabbing a bull/Taurus in the shoulder?

Wow just amazing Randall. I cannot communicate how powerful this was and how I thought, naively, that 1+hr about Halloween was misplaced. Thank you for this and may all that watch it pass it on.
