What are your thoughts on Kompany's tactic? Can he sustain this level or tactical aggression in Europe, or will he have to change to a balance structure defensive?

I am a Bayern Munich fan. Contrary to many, and also my doubts at the beginning, I see something in Kompany that can set us up immensely well for the future. It's his first big club, of course there are rumblings here and there, but he's done the team psyche good, he's likeable on the outside and he has an idea that I personally like very much and that will raise the athletic football of recent years to the level we need. In my opinion, many of the issues that need to be addressed are due more to the wrong transfers of recent years than to his idea of the game.

Company is a good tactician, he just need players that able to execute what he wanted. When he moved to Munich, I know he will got what he need after all these years...

My coach used this formation for years. We played competitively from 14-19 and won a lot! Opposition coaches were furious about this tactic. We played long ball from our half to the other half and had 2 OP strikers and fast wingers, our mids were defensively beasts and I was a sweeper keeper.

This similar to de Zerbi's Brighton, but with world class players.

This works with a Keeper who is got with his feet. Neuer invented it so it’s a Kind of Bayern only tactic

attack-wise okay. But that formation is a defensive nightmare.

This is only possible with incredible players like Minjae Kim, Upamecano, and Neuer. Theyre rare types of centerbacks that have DMF senses built into them, pretty much fulfilling two roles instead of CB, and Neuer has good feet compared to the average GK.

I watch every Bayern game. They're doing well in the league but haven't beaten Leverkusen in like 5 games now and have been very mediocre in the CL, losing already to Barcelona, Aston Villa, Feynoord, and only narrowly getting past Celtic. Kompany's system is very limited and only seems to work against mediocre opponents.

It’s a good tactic with a couple of brutal flaws.
Playing a high wide line against it with a team that counter attacks quickly opens up the centre backs so very often the opposition end up through on goal.

It’s useless against the long ball tactic if the opposition leave 3 up top.

It’s only affective against a team that build out from the back

I have not seen Bayern be as dominant as they used to be, but holy shit - this explanation helps. After all, we are still #1 in the League and just kicked out Celtic (barely). The "dominance" should be more visible against teams who aren't CL-level really

This works in Bundesliga where there isn‘t any club nearly as big as Bayern. Leverkusen had to play a once in a century season to get it done and now we‘ll see another 10-15 years with Bayern winning no matter what. Like in Croatia or Scotland. If they meet other strong offensive teams on an international level like Barcelona they get real problems. If they choose a more defensive approach like in the Bl game against Leverkusen they are dominated. Not a single shot on goal in the first half for the first time in 30 years. Outsmarted by Feyenoord who understood how easy it is to come past the Bayern defense line. For the moment, it still works but Bayern will have to improve to get past the round of the last 16 in CL
