It makes me so happy to see the Ruby joke is still going strong. Longtime viewer, and it makes me smile every time.

Solid content. Had a feeling you were going to slip in a Ruby joke, lol.

I agree with Myth 2. I started with Python and every language I've learned after (C++, Java, JS, etc) were easier as a result!

Here I am using linear algebra and C++ as a necessary part of my job every day.

Don't exagragate with No.1 - if you do you will end with money counted on floats and checking isOdd with loop ;)

I go to meetups and people get shocked that i cant write a single line of React. I only use PHP/Laravel Python/Django and very basic Vue and alot of HTMX and i closed 2024 having completed freelance projects worth over $60K. In fact my only regret is that i wish i had mastered WP and Shopify (of course i would need to learn Ruby)

Good vid! I use Ruby on Rails and React daily on the job. Same concepts no matter what language.

Survey that came out this week from over 1000 companies showed most of these companies feel programming is no longer a growing requirement and will hire less in between now and 2030. Take that as you will...

I think you missed that number 1 point. What you intended to say was calculation has nothing to do with coding. Even at that there is one or two calculation here and there but not that much. Mathematics involves arithmetic(calculation), logic and language. Coding have a lot to do with logic. If you find understanding logic difficult then coding is not for you.

So we should learn Ruby? 😅

Can you do us a favor and take this cap off? 😂

Stefan, I was wondering. Do you have any pearls of wisdom for older people? I am 59, and I have been thinking of getting into developing. I took an online tutorial in front end/back end development as a way to get my feet wet. But, as an older person, I have wondered if it is simply too late to be able to make any kind of money developing. For context, I am a translator, so I am detail oriented, and I have been a teacher for 32 years. Any comments? Thank you. Enjoy your videos.

Been following you, uncle stef from Kenya. I have a question regarding Dolibarr the PHP Opensource ERP System. Would you recommend it or could you go for an alternative? and if so, which one? thank

Myth 11 → You should get paid coding mentorship XD

42 is a free school people. All their stuff has leaked online. It's there for you to do, project by project.
Only caveat: it's going to teach you C first, not Ruby (the best language in the world).

People like Jon Blow would disagree about number 2. I think it's important to know but not always useful ... it depends where.

Now I seem not to understand what He meant about ruby. He said it's not the best and later said it's the best If I want to work with ladies?? 😑😑

So in summary, Ruby is the best language to learn.

Ohh no Ruby 🤣, I love ruby and rails but it's not the only lang/framework I use and I think in many cases rails is so good to make projects.

Says don't married to a language, but is hardcore married to PHP. This man PHP. It is still top 20 most popular languages but meh.
