In this video I test each of the 5 stock driver shaft options from Ping that they offer in their G430 range of Drivers......G430 Max, G430 SFT & G430 LST. Golf shafts are increasing in options and can make the buying process for golfers complicated and sometimes confusing! This run through of hitting each of the driver shafts I provide details on the feel and the characteristics of each shaft along with TrackMan numbers of their performance.

I’ve paid for 3 x 200 dollar fittings at precision golf and all fitters disagreed and aggressively hated on one another’s opinions. I’ve learned more from this video than their fittings.

What a thorough and well orchestrated video! Best I've seen, PERIOD!! Thank you for answering my questions about which shaft to choose.

Just proves what a great club head the Ping 430 Max is. I have mine with the CB shaft in regular. Haven’t tried the others. Most forgiving and longest driver I’ve had in 50+ years of golf. Confidence inspiring.

Love this. Don’t think people understand how much of a difference shafts make compared to heads.
Please do more as the driver season begins

This mirrored my experience with the G430 10K - just picked one up with the Tour 2.0 Black! You could throw a blanket over my dispersion!

I’m using the chrome tour 2.0 stiff in my Ping G430 Max 10k. The feel is just incredible and the numbers match the feel

I just took advantage of the discount on the G430 Max and they put the Kai’li White 60 on there. Night and day in comparison to my last driver. Went from 265 yd average to a 290 yd average. All because I got fitted and they told me to move up from a stiff shaft to x stiff.

I think a good thing to remember with companies like Ping is that they design and test their drivers with their stock shafts as the engine for both robots, and testers. You may be getting a 'cheaper' offering, but its one that was vetted for the head. Great video as usual!

I upgraded from the G425 with the AltaCB last year to the G430 with the tour Chrome X. Initially it did feel more stable, but I didn't feel like I was getting whip I was used to. I've switched to the tour Black S, and that seems better, but I'm still not sold. I ended up changing the movable weight on the back of the club adding 3 grams over stock and that has proved beneficial, but now I'm not getting the launch angle and height I was seeing. Good point on shaft length and stability though, as I've always tended to prefer the longer for speed but hadn't considered the impact on stability. Think after watching this and now having hit the G430 1000's of times, I might start over at how I got it stock and see how it feels. My distances have been pretty consistent so working on feel and dispersion / control. Thans for sharing. Good stuff.

I came here because I wanted to know if others are having the same level of success with the Alta CB that I am. I've been using Graphite Design shafts for years, and I am blown away by how good this stock shaft performs.

when i was younger id hit the back at the fence at the range, without knowing what the shaft was ---now at 64 and with limited mobility i just picked up the same head here with the 55 cb.
i only drive it 200 nowadays, but im loving that shaft

I recently got fitted with the g430 max tour chrome 45”. My grouping of 20 shots was 25 yards. My old driver was a Titleist tsi3 with a VA nemesis 75 shaft at 46”, the dispersion was 105 yards across. My handicap went from 4.2 up to 9.7 with the Titleist. I have played 6 winter rounds and have yet to shoot above 78. The term drive for show putt for dough has been proven to be such a wrong theme.

Had a fitting today, TM Q10 or g430max. g430 Max was unbelievable, got it with the standard flex with tour shaft!

Thanks for making this Video. I played the Kai li, then the tour black, and went back to Kai li. I play them in stiff with the max head. I am in the 100-105 range. Kai li is heavier and launched lower for me and I just needed lower launch with the 9-degree head. I feel there is a better option out there. The tour black did feel good and liked the lighter weight. Wish I could demo some other shafts. I should just go play golf and be thankful for what I have.

haven't watched the video yet, but my local golf coach/fitter told me that Ping says that they specifically design their heads to work the best with their stock shaft offerings. In other words, he said there is no need to upgrade the stock ping shaft. I'm pretty skeptical, so I'm looking forward to the results here.

Great video. Extremely informative. I'm going to get fitted for this driver and now feel much more informed. Thanks

When I was fitted for my G430 max, i was impressed with the range of stock shafts, each of which had quite distinct characteristics. I tried Alta, chrome, Hzrdus and Kai’li in stiff. For me the Alta felt like it had the most distinctive kick and had the best mid height flight pattern. After playing it for a while, I’ve found best results have been to lower the loft from 10.5 to 9.5 degrees, to control the height.

Good video Michael. What I would like to see manufacturers provide is the full specs of each shaft. The things I would like to know, above what is usually provided, are torque, launch, tip flex, kick point, spin, etc of their stock offerings. I have just had an experience where my G430 SFT (ALTA CB REG) was good but I was unhappy with distance. A pro advised - stiff, 70-80 grams, low torque (less than 3.0), an inch longer than standard and set loft at 9.5. The results have been counter intuitive. I have gained 15 metres off the tee and generally hit straighter shots. As a 70 year old golfer, this was an eye-opener. Unfortunately I have never used Trackman, or similar, and have no idea of my swing speed. Thanks.
