The insane world of War Thunder in VR

War Thunder is funny. Of all the VR flight simulators and mil sims I've played, it's War Thunder, a free to play game, that is the most fun. Because it has regular gameplay, but in VR just for the look. No motion controls needed. And the War Thunder community that pushed this game on me... thank you! If they never added virtual reality I probably never would have been recommended this, and that's scary. Because I really like this game.

this guy literally had more fun playing this game than I've had fun playing this game over the past 8 years.

It’s been incredible watching Habie progress into a “borderline” professional YouTuber. My favorite 8 minutes of the week are Habie Saturdays

I have gotten pretty fed up with the ground combat. But the air combat, in VR, with a joystick, in realistic mode, is absolutely amazing. I definitely get shot down about ten times for every time I shoot someone else down. But honestly that just makes it more exciting when I do manage to shoot someone down.

I highly HIGHLY recommend trying air simulator battles with VR. IMO, that's really the main use for VR in War Thunder and it feels super cool. VR is a massive liability in every other game mode, but in air sim everyone is locked to cockpit view so you're actually at a decent advantage against those that aren't also using VR or trackIR.

My family likes playing World of Tanks, maybe I could get them to play this in VR with me

I've heard about this game but never knew it was also in VR.

This and flight simulator seem like games you could get lost in for hours.

The naval clip of:
"This is Oh Nooo"
Has to be the most accurate representation of naval I've seen on YouTube to date

I recommend IL-2 Sturmovik in VR. Probably one of the better WW2 flight sims but also can be played in VR.

For you, the fact you came for the VR experience helped a lot to enjoy the game as much as you did.
Most people who come to play War Thunder join in for the Top Tier Jets. The Top Gun fans come for the F-14 Tomcats, and there are also the people who just in general come for the MiG-29, F-16, Panavia fucking cares about the Panavia Tornado, what's wrong with me?
They get in the game, only to realise this game starts with Interwar Era Biplanes and early Monoplanes, so they have to get through around 40 years of development, until they get the plane they signed up for.
But you see, these people do not even know what a Bf-109 is, or probably know what a P-51 is, but doesn't know anything else about it. So they mindlessly grind towards the Funny Danger Zone plane.
And that's when the 60 dollar premium packs come in. Or DLCs on Steam, but everyone with a brain buys them on the Gaijin store, where they are cheaper, but that doesn't matter.

A Player who casually grinds the game, and moves towards their goal, while enjoying each tier of aircraft or any vehicle for that matter will not buy a Premium Pack, unless said Premium has any personal significance for the player, case in point I bought the Premium A-10 (when it was on sale) because I don't plan on ever grinding that far in the US Tech Tree, If I want a Phantom, my two main nations, Germany and Great Britain both feature F-4 Phantoms (And the Phantom FG.1 with the Rolls Royce Spey engines is my absolute favorite Phantom anyway)
I don't like the F-16, I prefer the F-2 Viper Zero, which may come to the Japanese Tree sometimes anyway.

But people who don't appreciate the Props, and are impatient will be punished by their own selves.

Most of the time Premium Planes aren't better than their Tech Tree counterparts.
What they are good at is grinding research points and silver lions.
Case in point Prinz Eugen is the most common ship you can face in War Thunder.
This is for 2 reasons:
-Prinz Eugen is the most popular Azur Lane waifu, and the weebs are coming and they won't stop coming
-She's an incredible SL Grinder, so most people grind out half a tech tree with other vehicles, then spam Prinz Eugen to actually buy all the vehicles in the tech tree. These players suck at Naval in general, and don't play any other ship in Naval either.

One more thing I want to add.
If it wasn't obvious, almost every single Premium Pack Plane has a Tech Tree Variant which you can get absolutely free. (Except the A-6 TRAM and the Westlend Wyvern), and the Tech Tree counterparts are not worse than the premiums.

“Free to play” just means the cost lies in the hours you will waste in the game

2:39 those are bots btw, your first few rounds are filled with bots for "training" and "familiarization of the game" or as i call it "make the game seem easy and fun, so you go ahead and buy that $70 M1 Abrams before noticing it was only easy because bots"

seeing new players just enjoy the game is awesome makes the last 5 years seem like less of a waste

Habie being a Mark Felton viewer is not something I expected, but something that feels so right now that I know it.

The DLC prices are part of the sim. Military contracts are in fact an expensive scam.
