Pentax K-3 Mark III: Using K, M, and M42 Manual Lenses

In this video I show the settings required to use manual (K, M, M42) lenses on the K-3 III.

At 0:23 I miss spoke a bit: 'Using Aperture Ring' enables the shutter to fire for lenses WITH an aperture ring but NO electrical aperture contacts (manual aperture).

Thanks for this. Just got my old 55mm F1.8 lens (beautiful piece of 1976 kit) working on my new K3III. Been using a K5 since 2012.

Nice.

So... correct me if I am wrong, but the green button works anyway without needing to add the aperture stuff, that aperture rear dial stuff is purely for EXIF info and has no bearing on Tv Shifting with the Green Button, right?
As an 8 element fan boi this is really cool, I have shot so many takumar shots and I am always having to try and guess my aperture used after the fact. I get that it's a double entry thing (rotate aperture ring and then also rotate the rear dial to match), but its still neat to have. I'm just sad k3iii is only a crop sensor! Really old glass shines best on FF. Hopefully K-1iii will eventually come and have this feature as well. I just wonder how the old glass will handle 60mp :S

Hey, Fozz. Actually, this will allow you to enter apertures for those manual lenses with no onboard electronics but with aperture rings, not lenses with no aperture rings.

Wonder how correct the metering is. Traditionally, wide open and stopped way down they tend to be off by up to 2 stops. Wonder if they’re more accurately metered now.

So, what exactly is different here than with any previous model, except dial in aperture? I use M lenses a lot, though. I use them on paid events like weddings. I rarely miss aperture info in images ... I mostly shoot wide-open at 1.4 and one step down (2.0), which is distinctive to spot between the two. I love the fact I can use M lenses on any program mode and camera adjust exposure itself, based on where I poit camera. This works only with widest f-stop on lens. Is this different on K3iii? Does camera stops down lens also in program modes if aperture is dial in?
