WHAT DID I THINK OF THE DISCOVERY PRINCESS GROUP CRUISE?
Last month I hosted a group cruise on the Discovery Princess cruise ship. here is my honest opinion of princess cruise line and the Discovery Princess.

I took my very first Princess cruise on the Discovery and it totally surprised me! It is beautiful, clean and the crew were on it! Food was good too even in the buffet!

Recently did a mother-daughter cruise on Ruby Princess, our first time on a Princess cruise. We had a lovely time. Yes the cabins are small and outdated (super low on outlets) but TONS of storage. Room service was hit or miss but otherwise service was great. Entertainment gets a solid A with a plus for the cover band - they did Journey, Bon Jovi, and Prince to packed houses of fans who were completely into it, so much fun. Buffet was decent but there are better option for lunch (International Cafe for me). MDR food was good, no issues there. Had a minor plumbing issue, quickly fixed and received a completely unexpected onboard credit. Lovely spa area. Got a very good though hideously expensive hair cut but they threw in a much needed keratin treatment which brought the price into the worth-it range - it’s just so pleasant to get salon services at sea and the people were lovely. We will definitely be doing Princess again.

My mom and I took a cruise on the Ruby princess this past February and just loved it! The ship was beautiful and the staff was just amazing! Loved how they knew our names each time we’d come up to a venue (thanks Medallion technology)! You definitely get what you pay for on a Princess cruise! Just wonderful!

My wife and I have been on the Discovery Princess twice in the past 3 months and totally agree with you, one of the best cruises (out of 50+) taken. We even had the wonderful privilege of spending time with Bernie Kopell who was the doctor on the Love Boat show. Super customer service, entertainment, food, etc. Will go on it again in a heartbeat.

I used to be a Travel Agent at AAA decades ago. I loved Princess Cruises. Good to know they are still great! I have wondered, because things do change, ..and not all for the best

Couldn't agree more. We did a seven day California coast cruise on Discovery Princess last month. Beautiful ship. Large but never felt crowded. Friendly and helpful staff. Next year we are booked on this ship again during the solar eclipse off Mexico.

Princess has the most positive atmosphere. The staff works extremely hard to balance the feeling between luxury and family. I feel like a very cherished and favored aunt! (I'm not admitting to being old enough to be a grandmother!!! Lol)

It was an awesome cruise! Long time fan but wasn’t part of the group cruise, just a coincidence that we happened to be on the same sailing. Every time I saw you, you had your hands full so I left you alone, but I agree with your take on the cruise! Van-tastic!

We are currently on the Island Princess 2023 World Tour. We have loved this cruise and highly recommend it to anyone interested in sailing around the world. The staff on this ship is wonderful and will go our of their way for us. The ship is an older ship but it looks elegant and is very comfortable. We have enjoyed the various lounges and sitting areas. So glad we decided to go on the world tour. I would like to add that this Princess World Tour is a 4 month long cruise. We have been sailing on the Island Princess since January 19th and will be back in LA on May 11th next week.

Don, I'm glad your experience as great! Ours not so much. Our 13 May 2023 cruise to Alaska on Discovery Princess was not very smooth. I compiled a list of things Prince Discovery should probably look at. I did fill out some of this on the survey but sent this list to our Travel Agent as I figured it would carry more weight in resolving them vs my comments in the survey. But as of a month later I haven't received a response from Princess or my travel agent which is disappointing as well. i like watching your channel for information like the 360 Dining Experience. We had such a great time going to it. Safe travels to you!

1. Embarkation - The green line and showtime mean nothing. You can just show at any time, jump in line and head on up.
2. The personnel at the port asked us to go into the app however none of us could immediately log in. I was on the ship before mine logged on.
3. Waited extreme amount of time to wait on staff to bring drinks for breakfast. Twice we were a couple of bites from being finished before they stopped by. It also took a long time for tables to be bussed.
4. Some of the bartenders not very welcoming. The tall guy with sun glasses at the bar between the burger and pizza place on the pool deck was more interested in image and talking with certain people than getting others drinks.
5. During windy weather the sliding glass door whistled. I tried opening the door to make it stop but then the curtains flapped and were sucked outside.
6. App is not very good on board. We could order drinks but took a long time to get, once it took 25 minutes. Ordered a humus plate and was taken to our room vs to us at the Piazza where we were.
7. Twice tried to get dinner reservations for 6 at Skagway and Juneau restaurants, I was told they didn't accommodate parties that large in those restaurants but we saw larger parties in there when my wife and I ate in Juneau.
8. Made reservations on the app for Skagway for 5:20pm. Arrived and was told they didn't have the reservation and stuck us in the no reservation line. After 20 minutes of waiting they took us to the Juneau dining room. This also made us late for the showtime we wanted.
9. App wouldn't load each member of our party in the manage shipmates part, even after several attempts.
10. When booking flights through Princess they say to contact them for any changes. I needed to change a flight so I contacted customer service, they said they didn't do that and to contact the airline directly. Luckily Delta was great!.
11. When ordering drinks they ask for your room number out loud vs scanning the medallion. Anyone could hear the room number and order drinks or anything on your account.
12. Bus broke down in Canada while on excursion, yes not Discovery's fault..
13. I like the idea of using the tv for muster training as it's a big time saver vs showing up and waiting for everyone to show at the station. However it wouldn't acknowledge my wife took the training so we had to rewatch it on the app. It was a frustrating welcome to the ship.
14. Live tv is a joke. The live channels they offer are 4 news and Nat Geo. TV is slow and glitchy.
15. We did the 360 experience, it was amazing!
16. Went to the photo gallery to view and download pictures. When it was our turn the attendant gave us a tablet and started assisting someone else personally. We tried to ask him a question and was annoyed we asked him something. This was the attitude we came across from many employees during the cruise.
17. As stated above, the main dining situation was awful. Trying to walk up and get a seat was difficult and required long waiting periods. It wasn't up to standards of previous cruises. It also seemed like they were short staffed.

Hi Don. I totally agree with everything you said about the Discovery. The only thing was the internet to which I believe the Discovery has Starlink added now. It was very nice meeting you and Angelina. She is a lovely lady. Thanks again for arranging that group cruise. ♥️♥️

So princess cruise line is a good cruise line 2 sail on I'm in Texas and we have 2 of the princess cruise ship in Galveston, Texas I'm not far from Galveston I'm in Houston thank you for all of the great work you do for keeping us all in informed
