This city in Sweden surprised us! (Gothenburg is not boring!) 🇸🇪

First impressions of Gothenburg (Göteborg), Sweden.
Gothenburg is Sweden's second biggest city. But to be honest, we didn't expect anything out of the city. The reason we came was to watch the Frölunda HC hockey match, and thought the city itself would be boring.
But we were surprised to find how lively and vibrant the city was. We were delighted to walk around the city centre, and had Swedish fika at the Haga district.

Lol the Moccamaster coffee maker is a legendary favorite in the Nordic countries! I have one too, 40 years old and they still make all the spare parts for it since the model has not changed. Talk about sustainability! :)

A "simple" coffeemaker? That was a Moccamaster... Looked like smaller model. But, they are the top of coffeebrewers with a quality that is hard to beat. I miss Göteborg, I used to go there twice a week for work som years ago. And everybody should visit Liseberg and get their hair done on the roller-coasters.

The pink trees blooming is cherry blossom. Same as in Japan. We have some parks with cherry trees that looks just astounding at spring times.

5:50 those are called "landshövdingehus" - "governor houses". One governor of then Gothenburg and Bohus county in the 1800s banned houses in the city from being built entirely of wood. The first floor had to be in stone, to reduce the risk of fires spreading.

Coffee is not supposed to be taken on the go! In Sweden we Fika and relax. Embrace it! 😉

Sweden started using glasses at cafés around 30 years ago when lattes started to become popular. It was adopted from Italy. Before that it was pretty much just regular drip brewed coffee in ceramic cups, and it used to be super cheap.

I lived in Haga in the seventies before the big renovations and the inhabitants were artists, musicians, students and hippies. Everybody sharing everything and it was a really nice place back then. I have watched some of your videos and appreciate that you are so respectful when you comment things. Really nice - keep on going, I will follow (:

Guys, you really do make the cutest couple! ^^
As for your videos from Sweden I find it really interesting to see familiar scenes, places, stores but from the perspective of someone who´s not born, raised and familiar with them.
Welcome back any time <3

As a Canaidian you really should learn more about the Kingdom of Denmark since it is one of only two countries Canada share a land border with (since the Whisky War was setled and Hans island split in 2022, doubling boths countries number of adjecent countries). The land border is shared with Greenland that is one of the three parts of the Kingdom of Denmark.

The standard width in most of Europe and north america for a train is 3150mm. In Sweden its 3400mm, there is also a extended width of 3600mm (only on some parts of the network). While the Swedish train profile is 3400mm, not all trains are that wide. I don´t know the exact width of X74 train, but i would assume that its pretty close top 3400mm

Oh, I'm a little sad you didn't stay longer. Always nice to see someone exploring the city where you live. The train ride between Gothenburg and Stockholm is so beautiful in the summer when everything is green. Sweden really comes to life during the summer months.
