Kayak Fishing for Mahi-Mahi - Oahu - Hawaii

Today Mike goes out on the kayak solo... again. Has a little bit of a tough time initially and keeps getting cut off by Ono (Wahoo), but eventually hooks up to some Mahi-Mahi! A great day on the water trolling, a roller coaster of emotions, fish lost, and fish caught.

Get a 5' surfboard bag for a fish bag in front! Fill it with ice from Costco! This way you can slide the fish in easily and store your bait inside. Great video though loved it

Off of Kahala had big swells on Sunday! The group I was with bagged a couple mahi and an ono.

Biggest strike I ever had was waimanalo bay I heard a hugh splash behind my kayak I was on a slow paddle with a small popper maybe 3” was inside the reef heading back so when I heard this splash I never thought fish it was just so big a splash I instantly look up above it for a plane thinking that or a hang glider had hit the water saw nothing then me dummy wakes up and right then I knew and then the line around 20lbs went flying so fast I then also knew with all the coralheads I sure loose him and bam gone I shook like a little girl, great memories that set a big hook in my to where I would go out in big storms and shoot the reef flipped once lost a new 950ss penn but I never when back to the couch I was everywhere a great spot is where your at today but left side of Hanama See you in the water.
