STEPS BY STEPS OF RENAMING USING PACKAGE NAME
1. Click on the gear icon on your project panel
2. Uncheck Compact middle packages on the menu option that appear
3. Once your project package name will be broken down to individual directories
4. Right click directory you want to rename.
5. Select refactor Rename
6. A warning popup will appear select rename package
7. Provide the new package name and refactor
8. To see the name package name, select the gear icon again and check compact middle package.
9. To finish open your gradle build and update applicationId under defaultConfig .
10. Clean and reproject.

2021 and there is still no easy way to do this

the 2nd method...i don't see a rename package option...it's just a context menu to copy file or something. i've done this before but when i put my cursor on the package name..i don't get the rename package option
