I'm considering a review of my small $100k portfolio allocations, particularly in light of the pause in interest rate hikes. I'm curious about strategies in response to this that can make me a fortune during the election year.

I've heard that index funds and ETFs provide diversified stock market exposure while spreading risk. I have over $800K in savings; What's the most effective strategy to allocate funds in my portfolio and generate profits?

Certainly. Exchange-Traded Funds (ETFs) are popular for long-term investments due to their diversified nature. ETFs offer exposure to a wide range of assets, such as stocks, bonds, or commodities, which can help reduce risk. Some top choices for long-term investing include broad market index ETFs, sector-specific ETFs, and bond ETFs, as they provide potential for growth and income over an extended period while minimizing the risk associated with individual stocks.

My spouse and I are diversifying our long-term investment portfolio by adding various stocks and ETFs. We've allocated $220k to begin with, focusing on inflation-indexed bonds and companies with strong cash flows. I think the current market presents a good opportunity for long-term gains, but I'm also interested in learning ways to make short-term profits.

I just sold a property in Portland and I'm thinking to put the cash in stocks, I know everyone is saying its ripe enough, but Is this a good time to buy stocks? How long until a full recovery? How are other people in the same market raking in over $450k gains with months, I'm really just confused at this point.

I had actually stopped believing in the S&P500 to deliver any significant return, but it has potentials to cross 6000. I'm thinking of redistributing my portfolio to other stocks, but I hardly know which ones will do well. I have about $400k set aside to distribute into profit yielding dividend equities, still not sure of which to get into. Reconsidering the S&P 500 now

Most grateful to you. Interesting. Please do a tube on growth efs safer than S and P, due to the use of puts, calls, derivatives etc

Great comparison. I'm all about tech stocks, so an ETF full of them is where I'm headed next. Thanks Brian.

Hi Brian,

Of some of the Semi Conductor ETFs available I went with the Invesco (PSI) Inception 06/23/2005. Since inception date the NAV is 13.05% pa at 30 November 2023.

I like the looks of the Van Eck (SMH) as well. These must be some of the most aggressive return non-leveraged ETFs there are I reckon. SMH NAV since Inception date (12/21/2011) as at 30 November 2023 is 23.48% pa.

I realise you are looking at returns up to the last 5 years however. But in my opinion Invesco PSI is a good performer considering the 13.05% pa NAV increase has gone through the 2008 GFC and the Pandemic and yet is still over 13% pa average and over such a long period of time.
