Never Purchase an Open Range RV Trailer - Leak City

Показать описание
This is an Open Range RV that is one month old. It is corroded, has leaks, electrics are not working in some outlets and a few other problems. The second unit I've had in 5 months due to the first unit was condemned because of black mold and mildew throughout.

My wife and I own a 2802BH. We love it, and have had absolutely no problems. Don’t let one lemon chase you away from an exceptional RV

These issues can happen with ANY camper in the industry. And, you can find dissatisfied customers squawking about any number of brands out there. Roof openings can leak. Windows can leak. A/C units can fail. Refrigerators can fail. Campers are stick built on trailer frames that have an earthquake every time you move them. Take into consideration that all manufacturers aren't created equally. Neither, are the roads traveled upon. Take into account that some newbies don't know how to maintain them as well. In a nutshell, EVERY recreational vehicle or camper will need some attention at some point. What's more normal is that MOST problems occur during the warranty period & problems are solved accordingly. HAPPY CAMPING YA'LL!

Thank you for your post. We feel your pain. We had a similar experience with our special order from factory with our Gulfstream Streamlite 30dbs, 9 major deficiencies, It took our dealer 7 months to get Gulfstream to send the parts to fix. Very heartbreaking to spend that much money and get so little. Hope you get the unit you want and it performs well for you for as long as you need it to. Camping should be about the scenery you experience, not the rig problems we have to contend with. Stay safe, friend.

I have had an open range roamer 292rls for almost 3 years now (2017 model). I have had a water pump go out (replaced under warranty) but that’s it. All the complaints you are talking about could be any manufacturer, especially being an ultra lite. Some of the issues like oxidation on the water heater is completely normal. If you are in the market for a RV for the first time you need to set your expectations realistically. These are hand made boxes being drug down the highway at 70+ mph. Things will go wrong, more so with a new unit vs used. You have to go through the shake down on new units to get the kinks out. Once that is over you’d be amazed at how storage and maintenance ties into the quality of your unit over time. Take care of it and treat it well and it will treat you well. I wouldn’t discount one brand over another because someone had a problem, because they all have problems.

Moral of the story, find the unit you like and inspect it before signing on the dotted line. Then be prepared to have a few issues for the first few months of use. After all that is why they have a warranty.

I have a 2017, 297RLS Open Range Light and have zero problems with it. I have been lucky from what I hear. That said after 2017 Jayco company took over Highland Ridge who were manufacturing Open Ranges. We had an 18 foot Jayco and had issues with it. The refridge would not work if it got in the 80's. Sensors in the black tank would not work. Fuses went out all the time and the converter went out.
If you do research there is no real lemon laws for RV's. You need to have a good dealer that backs up their products and they are hard to find in this business. Manufactures use the same suppliers of materials and appliances. From all the YouTube and personal experiences of people I have seen, it does not matter who makes RVs or motor-homes someone ends up with a lemon or some problem or another no matter how much money is spent for one.

We purchased a 28’ BHS Open Range in June of 2018 and were very excited to hit the road! Over the next 3 months, we have the TT into the dealership for repairs every time we returned from a few days at the lake, We had a window above the dining area leak when it rained, the canopy started leaking water behind the seal were the canopy attached to the camper and one of the canopy speakers quit working. A break line spring became disconnected and was hanging out from behind the tire hub. This is just the tip of the went on a 10 week snowbird trip down south this past winter and while into our second week, we were just leaving a rest area when I noticed a wheel roll away from the camper just as we were getting ready to enter I-10....30 seconds later we may have created a major accident on the freeway and possibly killed someone! There we were stranded on a frontage road! After several calls, we managed to find a service garage that could help. We limped 15 miles with the axle 2” above the ground at 10 MPH, which was destroyed during the whole process. 4 days later and a new axle (covered under warranty) we hit the road again.
3 weeks later the nights turned cold (38) and the furnace decided to quit working, so we had to purchase a space heater, which kept part of the camper between 48-58. were the major issues and don’t include several smaller issues.
All in all, we would definitely not recommend purchasing an Open Range Ultra lite!

New update Got mine one month ago, open range 2018, 2802bh
Water pump gone out.
Hot water heater gone out.
Propane regulator gone out. HE WAS
New update now the central heat went out now the slide-out leaks
Control panel doesn't read any of the sensors on any of the tanks
One of the comments was as you travel down the road these things go out
I bought a brand new Jayco Eagle never had anything go wrong with it for 13 years
I live in an RV full time I've had airstreams class C and never had as much trouble
As I have had with this one
This new open range was delivered to me and has sat in one spot and I have had all this trouble
Now it's out of warranty and more things are going wrong.

Love the layout of our 27 rear living open range but have had a lot of trouble with kitchen slide not going all the way in. Lots of trips to the dealer for different issues. Need better quality control on all brands of trailers for sure.

It's not completely the manufacturer's fault some times it can be the dealership if they don't pressurize the cabin and test to see if there is a leak and recaulk what the manufacturer missed..

I literally was on my way to lazy days to purchase one of these on Friday. We ended up getting a flat and planned on going there on Monday things happens for a reason. Thanks for the vid. I don’t think I’ll be buying this anymore. I’m going to go with a coachmen freelander instead

I have a 2017 Open Range Ultra Lite 2802BH....
We love it. I’m just now replacing the fresh water pump ($72).
I don’t know anyone that hasn’t had some issues with RV trailers. ALL of them are made the same. Assembly line construction. NOT custom made. Even new cars have issues on occasion.

Bought a 2012 OR Journeyer about threemonths ago, only problem I had, was water leakage in storage area-turns out all the plumming line fittings were loose, tightened them up by hand, and that was it.we've been living in it for three months in a long term rv park, and we love it, have had heavy rains, no leaks, (it has three slides). Now, to be honest, the original owner was a snowbird, bought it, and put in in a beach rv park, been there for twelve years, then I bought it, moved it about three hundred miles, and parked it, so it hasn't been drug all over the place. After reading up on these rvs, if you get one and do a lot of travelig, you ARE going to have issues on a regular basis. For traveling, I think I'll just stick to tent camping, or maybe get a camper van someday
