I’m a dog guy n your dog reminds me of my old dog max I would call him maxi. Lived in the mountains and would walk the rivers with him in northern NH US . We had a game I called river rocking I would on the rocks without falling doesn’t always go my way and the dog would do the same and loved attacking the foam from the rivers he was nuts but loved it. I’m married with a kiddo and we have a deer head chihuahua and she’s a fun dog isn’t afraid of the water I don’t want her to get swept away down a river and she stay safe

Another banger. Would like to point out the shovel trick again for anyone new to digging in turgid/turbulent water.
Put a line up the shovel handle (not the whole way, just somewhere easy for you to see) that is facing the sky when your blade is flat, this can help with dumping soil due to things getting out of whack. Also great to let you fine tune your angle when you want to use the blade to "shield" your load a bit from faster flows.

At ' Nugget Gully ' where that water was running over like water fall, check plunge pool when it's not running. Possibly pack some water to do some panning. When the water is running & you see like where there's a couple - rocks inline & kinda rough those rocks are acting like riffles
