When planning on using Catalyst Browse, you definitely want to plan on faster shutter speeds to get all the unique sharp frames in order for it to do the magic. Set your shutter to perhaps 250th and better yet to 400th of a sec instead of a 60th. The cool thing is when shooting in bright daylight, no ND is needed. This will give the best results. But of course you loose the proper motion blur but the smoothness does make up for it.

Excellent video Peter. The amount of time it takes for catalyst browse to do it’s thing is mind blowing to me. They need to figure out a way to speed that up for it to be practical for most YouTubers. It would be great if they developed plug-ins for Final Cut Pro so you don’t have to do it in separate software on just the clips you need after your timeline is complete.

I actually think the active stabililation on the zv1 is better than the mark 4.

There is no need to turn off IBIS in camera.In fact with IBIS on you eliminate the micro jitter and then in catalyst you get better result with lower level of cropping. Have been testing it for months with the Sony a7c.

The Catalyst software is really great for the end-results, but doubling the files (original and stabilized) is crazy haha. :) Great stuff, Peter.

Next thing required by Sony is to put catalyst browse into their cameras as an option to be done in camera. They’ll need a serious processor to do that no doubt.

Sony IBIS sucks. Thank you for saying it. I wish more youtube camera channels were honest and call them out on it.
