Thank you for this....question about it...I was reading some comments from examiners on the IO and there were multiple comments about the plethora of literary elements students use in well done orals. Because of this, I was thinking to encourage them to err on the "broad" side such as "literary elements"(like the cinematic elements) so that they could bring in all the literary elements they see in the evidence they choose...one of my colleagues, in fact, dislikes the specific HOWS in the thesis statement and teaches the seniors to not use them ...things like "In Ibsen's A Doll's House, he uses condescending diction and symbolism to highlight the plight of Victorian would limit them....what are your thoughts? Thank you so much for this series of videos. I can't tell you how much it is appreciated. You are making a difference in the lives of a LOT of confused, but earnest teachers:)

Thanks for this video! Just wanted to know if it was possible to do two physical advertisements and one video advertisement (by the same company and advertising the same product)? Would this constitute to a body of work? The ads I wanted to use were from 1940s-1950s. I'm not sure if they are from the same advertising campaign or advertising agency

Thank you for this video. Something I'm not very sure about is whether I can do a comparative analysis as my HL essay. Is it okay to compare a specific feature in two short stories of the same author?

Hello Guys,
I'm sorry to post this question here. It's regarding the EE, and I would be grateful for your views.
A student is desirous to do his EE in English: A and is thinking of a non-literature option, which is a category 3 extended essay.
What could he possibly write about that covers a research paper of 4000 words? At the risk of not being an overblown HL essay, could you suggest some ideas he could work upon. Should he be dissuaded from doing the EE in category 3. But the category does exist, so the IB considers it doable.

I am currently writing a thesis for my HL English essay and I have questions is it possible to write two different reasons or statements for literary elements, "foreshadowing" for example, this author foreshadows this and that and blah. can 'this' and that'll be whole different things?

I am currently working on formulating my thesis and this video has been extremely helpful, thank you for sharing :) I do have one question though. I have chosen to explore Chekov's representation of existential nihilism in his short story Ward no. 6 through his use of juxtaposition. Would you recommend centering the essay on one literary technique, or should I involve others as well?
