The 1GD DPF issue was resolved a few years ago.

1kd has long history of faulty injectors and cracking pistons and toyota turns a blind eye

Routine maintenance does NOT mention although all this needs doing
Egr system clean / inlet manifold clean every 100, 000km
Injectors removed tested cleaned every 1000, 000km
MAF MAP sensor clean every 20, 000km
Change fuel filter every year
Early units had bad water pumps

The 1kd-ftv is an awesome engine. Do the proper maintenance, check the oil pickup when doing oil changes and replace injectors and seats before they are flogged and you wont have problems.

It just started to smoke pure black…we thought it was an injector ….then the mechanic found diesel in the sump…..missing like it was on 3 cylinders ….black soot out of the exhaust…always best to get 3 opinions lol

Just replaced mine at 240 k due to cracked piston ….new records engine and injectors $ 12800 including install

mechanical engine up grades
soft ware up grades
dash display is far more user interactive

Keep in mind people, dealing with all the DPF and DEF and whatnot isn't that old.... This would be like 1920 in terms of vehicle/diesel progression!
