On note of AT Val: You can move him out of his miasma by just leading him to a different part of the map. The miasma won't follow, it'll only be an issue if he puts down more (which then you just move again). You can also disperse the miasma with a flame pod.

He's really not that difficult to fight once you realize you can do this. To be honest he was the easiest out of all the AT monsters IMO.

Kushala has to be the biggest offender to me. Half of the fight is waiting for him to land so you can even do any damage. You fight the damn clock as much as you do the dragon.

Funny AT Lunastra story...

So I was going pretty smooth with the fight for a solo managing to survive a supernova and a Teostra bond. She hobbled off into the place with the falling crystals and I absolutely decimated her cause I'm a hammer main and don't give stuns lightly. She started to limp, went to the final area to sleep, and I got off a decent wake up hit. I died all three times after that without landing a single hit

5:19 You forgot that all the monsters read button inputs. It's how they know to roar to cancel your moves. Datto, or prod tested it. Sorry I forgot which one. Great video. Subscribed.

A few things:


1. I did not coin the term "Pepega Slam." People have been calling it this way, well before I even thought of making this video.


2. The fights in MHW are only tolerable, because monsters die so quickly. That's why some AT monsters are so much worse than some of their normal counterparts, despite not changing their behaviour/moveset at all. A good example is Kushala, Teostra and Vaal. To make ATs a truly better fight, you have to change more than just HP and attack stats.


3. I extensively talked about unbalanced attacks in the video, but I failed to mention that a lot of the combat in MHW seems to be balanced around mantles. Once they run out, heck, even while they're still active, flaws become glaringly obvious.


4. I watched a few boss fights from older games I've played, like the Fromsoft games, where attacks can be massive in size, look flashy and can still be easiyl avoided with a well timed roll, block or parry.


5. I wouldn't critique this game so much if I didn't care. I do care, which is why I even bothered making this video.

Not a fan of the "difficulty" of late game being Getting two shotted or swiped by bullshit hitboxes. Like, there are a bunch of attacks with great telegraphs....and loads with a millisecond to respond.

I agree with the theory that the AT monsters were not planned at all, but they found the game was much more popular than they thought, and more people were playing it longer than they thought, so they tried to throw in some sort of content quick fix as sort of a bonus.

The only issue i have with these AT elder dragons is their nuzzles do WAAAAY too much damage. Don't get me started on Testro, his kind of tracks.

Monster Hunter World's difficulty design essentially boils down to "Oh shit, we made the game too easy, time to dump in some unreasonable difficulty!"
