Appendix linked to Parkinson’s disease in series of unexpected findings
Показать описание
The risk of developing Parkinson's disease fell by up to 25% in patients whose appendixes were removed early in life, according to the findings of a retrospective analysis. Vivian Labrie, PhD, of the Van Andel Research Institute discusses the findings and the role of the appendix as a reservoir of alpha-synuclein proteins, which are associated with the onset and progression of Parkinson's.
