J.G. Quintel actually had to teach himself how to yell because he has a very laid-back nature and normally isn’t used to getting into arguments with anyone. It’s pretty astonishing to see how well he handled his character’s anger in this scene.

Like someone else said, although Benson is right, there is a time and place for everything. And this wasn’t one of those times and places, so I don’t blame Mordecai for clapping his boss for his insensitivity. His boss should’ve saved that AFTER Rigby gets out of the coma.

There's three reasons why Benson didn't fire Mordecai:
1. Mordecai wouldn't have cared at the time.
2. Benson has a compassionate side, and, deep down, he knows he deserved it, but was too proud to admit, and instead tried to cover his tracks and change the subject.
3. Pops is Benson's boss, and even though what Mordecai did was a fire-able offense, Pops wouldn't let Benson fire Mordecai, because he knows what Benson said was apathetic and uncalled for.

This is low key one of the realest moments in the show.

It’s kinda crazy how a show about a talking stoner blue Jay, raccoon, yeti, a sentient Gumball machine and…whatever Muscle Man is, can convey such genuine emotion

I know this is a cartoon but the dialogue in this scene felt oddly genuine

I think Benson was wrong at the moment but he also shows some form of care for Mordechai warning him about Rigby's behavior. Throughout the show, he never yelled at Mordechai by himself and seems to resoect him more than Rigby.

When the doctor said "There's a strong chance that he may never wake up again" I find that line spine chilling especially when you're in the hospital.

I fully agree with Mordecai. Benson was basically saying "Well he should have been working, so he deserves to be in a coma." I can't say I wouldn't react the same.

I like how When Mordecai said "No you don't" skips and Muscleman let him go like oh no he did not just go there

I really like like this show. This comment section does a really good job of explaining how both Benson and Mordecai had points to their argument but due to the flaws in their characters (namely Benson's focus on work and Mordecai's dedication to Rigby who we all know is a fierce slacker), the confrontation between the two has that much more depth to it than if either character was to be entirely right in the scenario. Really good writing.
