I like how he gradually gets better at catch as he gives tips

Wanted to add just to prove habib's point. FlyingTuna some years ago when he was a DT one trick and was awful at streams trained singletapping each finger for one month with a special program (basically like long stream maps but for one finger) and at the end of the month he had gotten incredibly better, be it at stream speed and alt stamina etc

if your still deciding, i recommend you learn alternate, after that you can choose if you are going alternate or single tap

i started full alternating then after a year I got curious about single tapping so I practiced it and noticed my accuracy is better when im single tapping so I decided to do a hybrid of both

I started osu as a single tapper then i reached 500k 400k ish 4 star range i began not being able to time jumps or the AR, so i decided to try/learn alternating, fast forward 10 months atm i managed to full alt and mastered 75% of it, im stuck at 100k cuz im one of the 1miss kings, i can stream 200, and barely able to deathstream 160 as im still learning the tapping style for it, my fingercontrol skyrocked, i got a nice 8 star pass on kouran hey kids or whatever its called, i also use index and ring finger which also helped to break my dominante finger and extremely improved my accuracy and UR, this felt like a resume but yeah thats where i am ever since i decided to full alt. Ty pls like kekw

I find linear patterns much easier single tapping, I also usually get about 20 lower ur single tapping vs alt (~90 vs 110)

I'm in the opposite boat where I've always been a full alt player and I've started learning to singletap. singletapping feels much more intentional and has helped my accuracy (on what im comfortable playing with it). It's also boosted my stamina and speed a bit too so far which is nice. I've been failing to push speed for 7 months now so I figured its time to take a new approach. To me, it seems like being forced to increase singletapping speed to play maps directly increases stream speed, and that's so many speed players are singletappers. With full alting its just a constant grind to push past even low bpm for many.

I started the game with alt because I cannot triple burst at start of the game (too sudden, somehow). But eventually after month I slowly switch to single tap because its more confortable. And because I initially can alternate somehow control or tech map are more comfortable because of switching between singletap and alt

Hardest part about alternating is learning how to start bursts with both fingers

For me, if I can singletap it, I singletap it. Even if my hand is dying. I won't alt for anything I can singletap

When I began, i just learned alting because thats what i thought the pros did. It just made sense to me that you should use 2 fingers instead of one when I can right? so yea i have always been alternating but i sometimes singletap on easy patterns just cus i can ya know

I wanted to post this comment a long time ago, this is my personal experience and own thoughts so basically

I am a full alter main since the first time playing.
BUT when I learned how to singletap back in april-may in 2023, I just couldn't do alternate like I usually do and let me tell you what, it gets worse and worse to the point I wanted to quit cuz I couldn't play properly since then.

so if you want to learn singletap or alter, it's all up to you tbh, but for me I regretting my life decision, just wanted to expressing this thought's of mine.

I have been alternating since I picked the game up. I thought everyone did tbh, but apparently not :p

Ever since I started I've been singletapping. I want to learn how to alternate but I have no idea how to do it properly. I play alt maps and monstrata style maps, i can somewhat do low bpm streams but my main problem is alt jumps or just alt patterns with sharper aim. When I try that, my brain goes smooth and my tapping and aim go completely off sync.

TL;DR: Bad at alting jumps, dont know how learn. What do

Wouldn't it be the exact same if you just continued alting but raised the bpm..? Am I missing something?

am i the only alternater who experiences lost of finger control when i try single tapping?

I started with singletapping, but i cant play tech maps because they are easier with alt, which im not really the best at, should i try to learn alternating or nah? I feel like the cons of singletap is acc and stamina improvement, and alting is fingercontrol improvement
